Shower Hose Sizes & Fittings: Lengths, Threads and Nut Types for Wholesale Orders

How braided hoses are actually made

Every hose order is really two orders stacked together: a material decision — PVC inner, EPDM inner, braid type — covered in our materials comparison; and a geometry decision — lengths, threads, nut types — which is what this guide is about. The geometry half is the one that decides whether the hose threads onto the wall fitting at all, and it is the half most often left as an unspoken assumption on the purchase order.
Typical for the industry, the trade works a simple grid, and knowing which cell your market buys in is half the specification:
| Length band | Where it sells | Notes for the PO |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 – 1.25 m | Replacement retail, compact bathrooms, markets where the heater or bracket sits close to the user | High-turnover band; confirm your step spacing — 150 or 250 mm decides carton count |
| 1.5 m | The default hand-shower length in most markets; the band project orders standardise on | Order as the volume core; it is also the reference length for comparing quotations |
| 1.75 – 2.0 m | Riser-bar sets, tall-wall installations, accessibility retrofits | Lower-turnover band; order as the completion of the assortment, not the core |
Two things about this grid are worth internalising. First, the steps are commercial, not technical — a factory braiding to order can cut any sensible step, so the grid you stock should follow how your market actually mixes replacement and project demand. Second, the length decides the carton: a 2.0 m hose program ships bulkier cartons at the same piece count, which shows up in the freight quote, not the unit price.
Because our hose line runs from inner tube extrusion to crimped fittings under one roof, the grid is yours to define — the JJM, JJB and JJP series are produced to specification, not picked from a fixed page.
A finished hose terminates in a union of four parts, and every one of them is a specification:
On our line these arrive as the JJP series — JJP-013~019 nuts, spindles and inserts — produced against the same hoses they terminate, which is the practical answer to the tolerance-matching problem converters face when fittings come from one supplier and blanks from another.
This is the specification wholesale buyers most often leave implicit, and the one that costs the most when it is wrong. The trade norm across most markets is a nominal half-inch connection on both ends — hand-shower end and wall-valve end alike. But "nominal half-inch" is a family, not a single thread: the exact thread family and seat geometry differ by destination market, and a mismatch does not show up in photos, samples or cartons — it shows up on the customer's wall at installation.
The rule we apply and recommend: freeze the thread standard in writing, per destination market, before the order is confirmed. For converters crimping their own fittings, that means the JJM blanks and JJP fittings are specified together; for buyers of finished JJB hoses, it means the destination market is stated on the inquiry so the correct union is assembled from the start.
| Choice | Options on this line | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Nut form | Flat or conical swivel unions (JJP series) | Swivel behaviour under pressure and the silhouette the set shows on the shelf |
| Nut finish | Brass-look or steel-look, matching the braid | The finish match with hand shower, bracket and valve across the set |
| Braid finish | Steel braid or brass on JJB finished hoses | The premium signal in Gulf and Central Asian showrooms; behaviour still follows the inner tube |
| Assembly state | JJM blanks + JJP fittings, or JJB finished with nuts and washers assembled | Who owns the crimp: your line or ours |
The assembly-state row is the one converters care most about: JJM braided blanks (over JJN inner tubes) with JJP fittings keep the crimping step in-house, while JJB-SHORT and JJB-LONG hoses arrive finished, ready for the box.
If the hose completes a set — and in the Gulf and Central Asia it increasingly does, complete with a handheld shattaf sprayer — then its length and finish belong in the same decision as the rest of the set. Our shower set anatomy guide covers that coordination component by component, and the hand shower wholesale guide applies the same discipline to the component the hose hangs from.
Lengths, braid patterns, fitting types and finishes are produced to order on our own braiding-to-assembly line. Send your length grid, destination markets and finish band through the inquiry form or WhatsApp +86 188 4083 8325, or start from the shower hose series outlines — JJM blanks, JJB finished hoses, JJP fittings — and we will quote the geometry exactly as you specified it.
